Pain Relief

Though cats and dogs have a higher pain tolerance than humans it doesn’t mean pain doesn’t affect their lives. Hemp-based CBD may provide temporary relief from an injury as well as long term chronic pain. Unlike prescribed pain medications, cannabis doesn’t have the potential for fatal overdose, making it a good alternative for sensitive animals, and those with chronic pain.

Sleep

Due to age or illness, your pet may have difficulty sleeping. Hemp-based CBD, may help your pet get to sleep and sleep for longer periods of time. Sleep improves healing and maintains general physical and cognitive health.

Anxiety Relief

Anxiety may be the single most common problem for domestic animals. This is due to travel, holidays, noisy neighbors etc. Hemp-based CBD helps to calm the pet’s brain while having little to no psychoactive effects (i.e. they won’t get high). As with other anxiety remedies a trial test should be performed in a calm, familiar environment where you can closely monitor your pet’s reaction to the cannabis medication.

Nausea

Most animals experience nausea due to car rides, bad food and medication. Hemp-based CBD may provide instant relief if given in dropper form or within an hour when eaten. As with humans, cannabis’ effect on nausea has no equal when compared to over-the-counter and prescription medication.

Muscle Spasms & Seizures

Many animals experience seizures that severely impact their quality of life. Hemp-based CBD is well known for lessening and in some cases eliminating seizures in human children and adults. The same effects have been seen in domestic animals. The concentration and form of hemp-based CBD medications is dependent on the animal and requires experimentation to determine the best method and dosage for your pet.

Do Your Research

Keep in mind that the effectiveness of cannabis and CBD pet medications are based on anecdotal evidence while scientific evidence is limited due to research restrictions imposed by cannabis prohibition. Not all cannabis pet products are lab tested and verified and not all cannabis-based products are manufactured in the United States. Ask your retailer where the cannabis and CBD comes from, where it’s processed, and does it have lab test results from a trusted laboratory.
